Our History
In the beginning when the painting industry was first taking shape, Master Painters generally came from Germany and the Netherlands to America. In 1965 Jim Gregg, founder of Gregg Custom Painting, severed his apprenticeship under an German Master Painter in Dayton, Ohio.
When Jim moved west to Glendale, California he joined Painters Union Local 713 as a Journeymen Painter. While in California Jim attended L.A. Trade Tech, a top college for commercial art where he earned his commercial art degree, graduating third in his class. Jim then moved to Seattle, Washington and worked for George Heiser Body Co. as a industrial auto painter where he quickly rose to the top as George Heiser top painter and designer.
Jim Gregg learned well before he opened his own business in 1981 to provide a quality product for his customers. Jim Gregg’s personalized orientation, integrity and high standards, played an integral part in him learning the skill, of a professional painting contractor. With the desire to build a strong professional reputation, it was just a matter of time before Jim started Gregg Painting.
